With our attention drawn to events overseas, let us not forget about folks in our local community that desperately need and depend on our support.
In the summer of 2022, about 1 year after arriving in DC from Toronto, I became heavily involved in welcoming migrants from South and Central America. Unlike my safe and smooth journey, most migrants I encountered were bussed to DC from Texas and Arizona as part of a political stunt. This, after enduring significant pain and losses as they fled persecution in their home countries. No matter what your stance is on immigration policy, these humans are now our neighbors.
Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid continues to support the more than 1,500 migrants who have chosen to make the DC area their home. Your donation will go toward resettlement support for families trying to move out of shelters, monthly asylum clinics, prenatal support, wage theft clinics, and much more. Please consider opening your heart to help integrate these beautiful souls into our community. Thank you!
