Lacey’s Story
Lacey is our cancer survivor, brain surgery fighter, and overall warrior. In September, Lacey had a tumor removed that was connected to the artery on top of her brain. The tumor was growing and pushing against nerves. This was causing balance loss, lack of movement in her right leg, slurred speech, and many more problems. So, the surgeons decided to brave a very intense surgery. They removed what they could. We were hoping to be in the clear, but Lacey is back in the hospital. Where the sutures were, it let in infection (MRSA) because they would not close. She still has little to no balance, among other issues that the infection has further caused. Lacey had emergency surgery to clean out the infection on Saturday, October 25th. We were hoping she’d be home soon after, but this is not the case. The skin where the staples were is not healing and closing how it should. She is still draining very badly. They are bringing in a plastic surgeon to create a skin graft to hopefully close up where her skin is too fragile to heal itself.
This has created a financial struggle on my mother and father, Lacey’s parents. My mom has been staying in the hospital as she can’t leave Lacey, so she is off work. As you know, staying in the hospital isn’t free. This is taking a toll on gas, bills, food, and other necessities. We don’t have a time frame of when this awful situation will end. ANY help is appreciated, prayers are more than accepted as well.
