Just before the holidays, my brother Jordan experienced an unimaginable tragedy. A sudden fire destroyed his home and took everything he owned. He was left with nothing but the clothes he was wearing.

Even more devastating, the fire also took the lives of his beloved dogs, Mufti and Siwa, who were truly his family.

Many of you know Jordan through rugby, football, friendship, or his work as a teacher and a coach. Others know him through his generosity and adventurous spirit. Whether it was biking across Canada to raise money for MS, teaching abroad, or sharing his homemade maple syrup with friends and the community.

After teaching in Egypt, Jordan chose a simple, off-grid life close to nature. He built a yurt in the woods, where he lived for eight years with Mufti and Siwa, two dogs he rescued as starving puppies from the streets of Cairo. He gave them a life filled with open space, squirrels to chase up trees, and constant companionship.

Jordan also welcomed friends, family, and teammates to skate on the pond or gather during maple season. Over the years, his home became a place to gather and be closer to nature.

The loss of his home, his belongings, and his companions all at once has been overwhelming for him. Jordan is now starting completely over. He needs help replacing basic necessities like clothing, furniture, and everyday essentials, as well as covering temporary living expenses while he works toward rebuilding his life. No one ever expects to be in this position, and the emotional toll has been immense.
