Donate to Help Family After House Fire
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Kim and we are asking for help for our close family members who experienced a devastating house fire in Portland over the weekend. In the early morning hours, a neighbor noticed the fire and was able to awaken and alert the family allowing them to evacuate to safety. Thankfully none of the family members (including mom, dad, six children, and pets) were injured, but the fire destroyed their garage, incinerated their vehicles, and left serious damage to parts of their home. Because of this, the home is currently uninhabitable until the insurance is processed and house restoration is completed, which is estimated to be up to one year’s time. The father is a teacher at a charter school and the mother works as a special education support program aide, and the upcoming financial strain on them will be very difficult. Some things will not be covered by insurance and there will be many other out-of-pocket costs while waiting on reimbursement. We are also hoping the family members will be able to obtain counseling to work through the trauma. We are beyond grateful that everyone is safe, but the next year will be extremely challenging for them so anything you are able to give would be extremely helpful and appreciated. Thank you.
