My name is James and I am trying to raise some money for a gentleman that I met the other day. I walked into the Dunkin’ Donuts on S. Main St. in Laconia around 5 o’clock in the morning. I saw a gentleman sitting by himself with his head in his arms resting on a table. I walked over and I tapped him on the shoulder and offered to buy him breakfast and a cup of coffee and he agreed. I then sat down and talked with him for a while, and kinda got a little bit of his story. His name is Dennis he’s is an 58 year old Laconia native and he has been homeless and hasfor the better part of a decade while struggling with alcohol addiction. Dennis has been staying at an overnight shelter in Laconia, but starting this upcoming Monday they will no longer be doing overnights. So I am trying to raise some money to get Dennis a small tent and a sleeping bag along with some clothes and maybe a motel room for a night so he can shower and get some rest in a real bed. Any money that is left over after getting Dennis the things that he needs will be donated to the Laconia Humane Society.
