Hi my name is Joan. On November 24, 2023 my son, De Andre Smith was viciously attacked and brutally beaten while housed at the Mcreary Penitentiary in Kentucky. He is at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Intensive Care suffering from extreme bleeding in his brain. He has had brain surgery, is intubated and in a coma unresponsive.

I am working to get an emergency adult guardianship which will allow me to get custody of him from the Prison system and also request a compassionate release on his behalf since he's not able to do so for himself.

As of December 11, 2023 my son has shown some improvement since his brutal attack and as a Christian woman, I believe he will come out of his coma. He will need on going medical care after he is released to me and I will need financial help to do so.

This is the reason for this account so that once I get approval from the courts and the Prison Warden to release him.
