Hi, my name is Kei and I live in Sydney. For my 10th birthday, I am fortunate enough to visit Africa, a place that I have been supporting by fundraising through UNICEF Cook for Kids.
Through the support of many people, I am visiting A-Goal, a non-profit organisation in Kibera, Africa’s largest slum. A-Goal focuses on teaching children in Africa about soccer. They also provide a nutritious meal after their practice. If this amazing organisation didn’t exist, many children will miss the one meal which is often there only meal for the day.
By running a soccer club, A-Goal attracts children (even if it was for a hot meal!), and gives them hope, joy and entertainment. If children didn’t attend training with something to look forward to, they are much more likely to get involved in illegal activities, making it difficult for them to free themselves from poverty.
So here I am, asking you to help me raise $2000 so that these children can continue to engage in soccer, so that they can leave each session with hope and a full stomach. With this money, children can find purpose and meaning in life; children participating in A-Goal have gained opportunities for further education and even to play professionally. A-Goal is extending their activities to support girls play soccer too.
I would really like to support this group, and extend my encouragement with the support of caring people like you.
This is an article written in English about A-Goal
Since I was 8years old, I have organised various fundraising events to support children in vulnerable situations through UNICEF, Children’s Cancer Institute and Royal MacDonald House Charities. These could not have been accomplished without the support of my friends and community, of which many of them belong to my school.
I am proud to be part of such a kind and generous community.
Here are some of the results of what I have committed in the past.
Challenges in 2024
For my 8th birthday, I asked people to donate to UNICEF instead of birthday gifts.
After my grandfather’s loss, I ran for City to Surf to support Children’s Cancer Institute.
My school supported me to hold a bake sale on Halloween to fundraise for UNICEF.
Challenges in 2025
For my 9th birthday, I did another Cook for Kids birthday party for UNICEF.
After the earthquake in Myanmar, I started busking in Hornsby to raise money for children affected by natural disasters.
With the help of many families in school, I did another Halloween bake sale to donate to UNICEF.
Part of the money raised from the Halloween bake sale was donated to Ronald MacDonald House Charity, which provides accommodation for families of sick children.
