After five and a half years in the Labour Party, I’ve made the decision to resign and will now serve the residents of Westwood, on Coventry City Council as an Independent councillor. I pledge to help build and support the new party announced by Zarah and Jeremy locally.
The Labour Party promised change. But since entering government, it has slashed support for disabled people, upheld the cruel Two-Child Benefit Cap, attacked the right to protest, and supported the genocide in Gaza by backing arms sales to Israel. In Coventry, the Labour-run council cuts libraries, cultural funding, and local charities — and breaks strikes instead of supporting workers.
This is not the change I joined Labour for at 16. It’s not the change people voted for — and it’s not what our communities deserve.
Now, I need your support to:
- Run grassroots campaigns and events in Coventry
- Support local organising, door knocking, and outreach
- Fund print materials, venue hires ect
- Seek re-election in 2026
I’m continuing to fight — from the picket lines to the council chamber — for peace, justice, and a fairer future. But I can’t do it alone.
If you believe in building a new left alternative, please chip in and share. Every donation - no matter how small helps.
Let’s build the alternative, together.
