DONATE TO HELP BUILD A LOCAL HOTEL

Hi, my name is Lisa Dan and I am the Director of the Starke County Economic Development Foundation (SCEDF) in Knox, Indiana. Knox is the county seat of Starke County, Indiana, which is located 90 minutes southeast of Chicago, 2 hours north of Indianapolis, 45 minutes southwest of South Bend, and 2 hours west of Fort Wayne. The nearby lakes, rivers, parks, national trails, and other outdoor amenities are a draw for travelers. Unfortunately, there are no branded hotels in our community. Additionally, business travelers have to stay outside of the county when they are here to visit local industry clients/customers. Culver Military Academy and Ancilla College of Marion University are nearby and would also benefit from a branded hotel nearby. The University of Notre Dame is within a 50-minute drive to Knox. SCEDF is working with hotel developers to secure local investment to construct a new hotel. We have already secured land for the project. We just need to raise money for the project. This is an opportunity for smaller-dollar contributions to help make this goal a reality. All contributions to this Go Fund Me outreach will be used by the SCEDF as an investment in this much-needed project. SCEDF is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization. As a 501(c)6 non-profit, we may raise money for these types of projects, but the difference between a 501(c)6 and a 501(c)3 is that any contributions made to the SCEDF are not tax deductible. For a 501(c)3 organization, contributions are considered charitable donations and are therefore tax deductible. For 501(c)6 organizations, they are not tax deductible under current IRS laws. We hope that many people will still want to support this organization in bringing a nice, clean hotel to our community!!
