Recent Developments:

The donations for this Go Fund Me have helped greatly to Andy & Kathy’s motel stay which they appreciate beyond expression. It especially helps to pay the motel’s weekly rent while they seek out a more cost effective, healthier living situation. This is even more important now since Andy has had two health issues requiring him to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, once on November 30, 2025 & again on December 22, 2025. He was hospitalized first for complications from high blood pressure issues and then for a minor heart attack, which required a stent placement. Both incidents resulted in new medications but, unfortunately, one crucial medication for his heart is not covered by his insurance. This medication is vital for Andy's survival, and, while the hospital doctor initially provided it for free, they are unable to afford it moving forward. These health issues are their number one reason for seeking a better housing situation. In the meantime, Andy has two follow up doctor appointments, one today & one on January 21st so they need to be able to afford the weekly motel rent until they find something different.

He just received his retirement benefits but that is almost exhausted until his next payment comes through as he paid last week's motel rent along with a new truck battery, more oil & gas for the truck along with purchasing both grocery & non grocery items. Kathy was able to pay this week's rent from the donations & is hoping to cover next week's as well. She is uncertain about the weeks that follow until Andy's next retirement payment comes in.

Andy has a follow up appointment today with his Primary Care Physician & with the cardiologist on January 21st, 2026 & is not certain how many other appointments there will be after that. So, it is even more important that they have the motel to stay in until another place can be found.

Their Back Story:

As most of you may know, my friends, Andy & Kathy, along with their dog, Bubba, have been living in a motel since August 26th, 2025 as a result of their dear friend, whose property they were living on, getting terminal cancer, causing the property they were living on to be sold. Andy had been unable to work since 2024 due to health issues but was denied disability benefits. He did get approved for early retirement benefits but had to wait a few months to receive it. They contacted all of the possible resources to try & relocate without any success being told that there was a 2 to 5 year waiting list for housing & the churches did not have the funding to help them either. Fortunately, they were able to obtain help from a friend to start staying at a local motel along with being able to sell their second vehicle which also helped to pay for their room. Unfortuntately, the money from the car sale ran out sooner than expected so, before this Go Fund Me started, they received help from various friends to pay their rent. Since then, they have been able to make most of their weekly rent payments from the donations received through this Go Fund Me.
