Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am fundraising to help my dear friend Adriana and her children move back to Florida to be with her family. She has given me permission to share her story.

Immigrating to the US from Venezuela in 2009 and becoming a citizen in January 2020, Adriana came here for a better life. In April of 2020, Adriana found herself in a situation that was dangerous to her and her children’s well-being. She is a survivor of domestic violence, brought here to Staten Island in 2016 by her abuser far away from her support system and family in Florida. Over the course of the past three and a half years, she has been living on public assistance and entangled in the court custody case that would allow her to move back to her family. Finally, an agreement has been reached and she is allowed to go.

As a single mother, she has provided safety and security for her two young children, Ariadna, 12, and Anthony, 7, giving them the best life possible here in NYC. I know how much she has struggled, both financially and mentally, but still has been able to put her children first and do whatever is necessary to make sure that they have a healthy and happy childhood.

She is currently facing eviction, as her public assistance has run out and her lease is up in February. The court battle over the custody agreement could not have come to an end at a better time, but she does not have the funds to move.

I want to enlist the help of this amazing, supportive community to help her start the new life she and her children deserve.

The goal of $3,000 dollars will go towards the costs of the moving company or truck rental, shipping costs, and deposit / rent in her new location.
