Hello, My name is Peter and I'm starting this fundraiser to help my brother David and his family on their journey to travel through a total of 9 different countries on land from Peru all the way to the USA for a better life for the kids.
They plan to leave at the end of September 2022.
Initially, the family started their journey by fleeing Venezuela like many others due to the high corruption, death threats, and overall dangerous lifestyle. They first arrived in Peru and shortly after once again they were faced with an experience just like Venezuela and even faces xenophobic comments from locals just because they came from a different country. This is when they decided to put their faith in God and pray that they can end this lifestyle and hopefully accomplish a safe arrival to the USA so that David and his wife can give their kids a better life and all that they deserve.
This fundraiser is vital to me because my nephews 'Godson' of 5 years and 'Lovely' of 2 years are very very young. The journey will be extremely difficult. I can't even begin to imagine what obstacles they will face and I can only help so much. Hopefully, with your help, we can make their dream a very real reality.
The funds we raised will primarily be used in 3 categories.
1. Shelter/Food
Given the tough journey that they are about to endure, I can't imagine having to sleep on the street on top of it. The funds can help cover some expenses to provide a shelter for them to sleep in hopefully every night and most importantly stay safe. Equally as important, the funds will also be used for food to keep the family healthy and strong so that they reach their destination. These kids should be feeling hungry and the parents will need every little bit of strength to keep pushing forward. My hope is to raise enough to keep them fed throughout the entire journey.
2. Transportation
Lastly, the funds can help aid in reliable and safe transportation throughout the countries so they do not go on foot or through more dangerous routes. Through each country, each family member will have to purchase Transit permits which will allow them to have a safer passage through the country. These are not cheap however the alternative is taking lesser known more dangerous routes which is putting the kids at a much greater risk.
The toughest part I believe of their journey is the Panama Darien gap which consists of a large dangerous jungle travelled only by foot. The funds are crucial for the jungle as they can facilitate a safer route through the jungle with a possible guide for safety rather than walking through the mysterious jungle alone.
You can see the family in the pictures and I have also attached images and screenshots of others also attempting this journey. As you will see, this trip is not all road. My brother David and his family will have a long, tough, trip ahead of them these few days and my hope is that with your help we can make their trip easier.
I strongly believe that these kids have faced enough already and like many of us they also just want to feel safe. I ask you to share this with your friends and family and to please help this family with anything you can offer. It really does make all the difference.
