I believe the most powerful force to end human trafficking is health care. We know that victims of trafficking have touchpoints with clinics and hospitals while they are being exploited. Victims are more likely to trust a nurse or doctor than anyone else. Yet, millions of health professionals and health systems are not aware of trafficking or have plans in place to respond. HEAL Trafficking is changing all of that on a global level.

I co-founded HEAL trafficking nearly a decade ago and I'm proud to say that in our 10-year history HEAL has ignited a movement to respond to trafficking in health care settings. We work by 1) building community among health professionals in this space, and 2) building the capacity of health professionals and health systems through training and technical assistance. HEAL Trafficking has grown to a community of over 4,000 survivors and multidisciplinary professionals in 45 countries.

I have donated countless hours of my time over the years to make HEAL what it is today. It has been a labor of love, sometimes at great personal cost. This work is a calling.

HEAL needs your financial support. While many health systems recognize trafficking is a problem, they often do not have resources devoted to victims of violence, including trafficking. 99% of requests we receive for training have a budget of $0. We are facing a shortfall over $50,000. In order to continue our world healing work, we need your help.

-Approaches human trafficking from a health perspective that incorporates a socio-ecological framework and prevention strategies; and

-Promotes a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, anti-racist, evidence-based, practice-based approach to anti-trafficking efforts.
