Update on Gordon – Grateful and Moving Forward

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on all things Gordon—it’s been a whirlwind few months! We’re beyond grateful to everyone who has donated, shared, or simply cheered him on during these early days of freedom. Your support has meant the world.

Gordon is doing incredibly well adjusting back into our community. He’s been focusing on his health, addressing dental needs, and—big news—he’s now the proud holder of a brand-new driver’s license! The next goal: getting a car and taking that next big step toward full independence.

Amidst all the to-do lists, we’ve made some beautiful memories together that we’ll cherish forever. We continue to feel overwhelmed by the love, prayers, and kind words from friends, family, and even strangers who have followed his journey. Every message and encounter fuels our hope.

What’s next?

As many of you know, the legal fight isn’t over. The Prosecutor is appealing the judge’s decision. The Hawaii Appellate Court has now set the following deadlines:

Jurisdictional Statement due: May 16th

Opening Brief due: June 16th

We remain hopeful and determined. Thank you for being part of this journey—we couldn’t do it without you. Our hearts are full!

Throughout his incarceration, Gordon was subjected to an unimaginable ordeal, enduring the harsh realities of wrongful imprisonment. He lost precious years of his life, separated from his family, his community, and the future he had hoped for. But through it all, his spirit never broke, and his belief in justice never wavered.

Now that he is exonerated, Gordon faces the challenges of rebuilding his life after such an immense injustice. The emotional, mental, and financial toll has been overwhelming, and as a family, we want to ensure that he receives the support he needs to start fresh. There are countless expenses involved in transitioning back into society—housing, healthcare, education/job training, and the cost of daily living.
