Hi all,

My name is Wilson, and I am partnering with Calvary AME to organize a food drive and soup kitchen on November 22nd, 2025, for the residents of Glen Cove.

This initiative was created out of concern for our Glen Cove neighbors who are facing financial hardship due to the recent government shutdown and widespread layoffs.

Our goal is to raise $1,400 to create and distribute food care packages for local families. These packages will support elderly residents, veterans, unemployed individuals, and low-income families who could use a helping hand during the holidays. We’re aiming to assemble care packages for 15 families, each containing enough food to last through the week of Thanksgiving. The estimated cost per package was calculated using current prices from Glen Cove’s Stop & Shop to ensure accuracy and maintain local relevance. All items will follow the USDA and TEFAP guidelines for non-perishable foods to promote nutritional balance.

While this initiative isn’t a long-term solution, it’s a meaningful step toward helping those in need and a chance for Glen Cove to come together in compassion and generosity. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
