Help fund Young Lives vs Cancer and make a wig x

Hey, my name is Emma and I work at The Mechanical Elephant, Margate.

Here’s our back story,

Wetherspoons works closely with Young Lives vs Cancer, and I am the charity champion of our pub. This year the pub turns 24 years old and to celebrate I am holding a “Birthday Party Fundraiser” on May 30th, 2025. My goal is to raise £1000 at the event, and to help towards that Harry, a team member here, has offered to shave his head and donate the hair which he has been growing for 3 years, if we raise £500.

At the party we have other events happening, like our Kitchen Manager, Alfie, has offered to be a water target, that staff and customers can donate and throw water balloons, buckets and sponges at him. Our Pub Manger, Victoria, is doing a sponsored silence for the entire day… a day where the pub manager can’t speak? Sounds like everyone’s dream! We will have 2000s theme dressed staff, 2000s themed games like ring toss, pin the tail on the donkey etc. We will have a kids activity corner, and a a huge prize draw.

*all donations here and at the pub, and monies made from the games/activities will 100% go to young lives vs cancer

This is the biggest charity event that Margate Spoons has seen, and I’m hopeful that we can raise plenty for charity! And hopefully everyone will have the best Wetherspoon experience they have ever had!
