Alpha Gal Syndrome is a serious disease that causes the infected to have a severe allergy to alpha-gal, a sugar found in mammals or red meat. The disease is passed by tick bites, and there is no known cure. Symptoms can range from mild to life-threatening. Some people experience itching, hives, difficulty breathing, and anaphylaxis. The main tick is the Lone Star Tick, but it can be passed by ticks worldwide.
