We were suddenly and wrongly evicted from our Holyoke, Massachusetts apartment on Tuesday, September 15th. Mui Tran, our landlord, backed out of accepting approved rental assistance at the very last minute after submitting all her documentation, leaving us with no time to secure permanent housing. During the eviction process, authorities abruptly cut off our time to collect our remaining belongings, even initially trying to prevent us from retrieving essential medication.
I am completely blind in my right eye and have thirty-five percent vision in my left, and live with Type 1 diabetes and hypoglycemia unawareness, a dangerous medical condition where I cannot feel or detect when my blood sugar drops to life-threatening levels.
Local housing programs have extensive waiting lists, and hospitals cannot admit me without an acute emergency. My sister-in-law generously paid for a motel room so we would have a safe place to stay, but our time there ends this Tuesday, September 22nd.
We urgently need to raise funds to extend our motel stay for another week or two while we work with local housing services to find a permanent solution. Every single dollar makes a difference and directly helps keep us safe and sheltered.
If you are able to donate or share this campaign, we are deeply grateful for your kindness, support, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time.
