Hello, everyone.
I’m reaching out today to share the story of my friend Nathaniel (aka Nate), a person who is trying to turn his life around and build a future he can be proud of. Seven years ago Nate had moved out to his first apartment and his roommate ended up being a drugdealer. This drugdealer threatened Nate's life if he didn't come up with some cash so Nate made the poor decision to try to rob a local 7-Eleven at knife point because he felt like he had no other way out. The 7-Eleven staff refused to comply and Nate left without hurting anyone. He was picked up by police minutes later. Seven years ago, Nate made a mistake, and he’s spent the years since paying for it—doing his time, fulfilling probation, and working hard to stay on the right path.
Despite his efforts, Nate faces a significant obstacle: his criminal record. This mark on his history continues to hold him back, making it nearly impossible to secure stable employment. He’s worked hard to stay on the straight and narrow, but without his record being expunged, he’s struggling just to find a minimum wage job. Even rideshare or delivery jobs, which many people use to supplement their income, are off-limits for him due to his record.
However, Nate has shown that he has the drive and talent to turn his life around. He recently landed a job at a non-profit organization focused on supporting tree planting and funding for autistic children. In his very first week, he tied for the most sales ever by a new employee, proving his potential and work ethic. Unfortunately, due to his criminal record, the non-profit was forced to let him go.
His boss, who was incredibly impressed with his performance, would love to hire him back—but only if his record is expunged. This is a critical opportunity for Nate to get back on his feet and continue to contribute to a cause he cares about. But without the expungement, that opportunity is out of reach.
This is where we need your help.
We’ve set up this GoFundMe to raise the necessary funds to cover the legal costs for the expungement process so that Nate can move forward and take full advantage of this job opportunity. Your support, no matter how big or small, will make a huge difference in helping him clear this final hurdle and secure his future.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Donate: Every little bit counts! Your contribution will go directly toward covering the cost of the expungement process.
2. Share: If you can’t donate right now, please consider sharing this page with your friends and family. The more people who see this, the more likely we are to reach our goal.
3. Support: Even if you can’t donate, your encouragement and positive words mean the world to Nate. He’s worked so hard to get to this point, and knowing that people believe in him makes all the difference.
We all make mistakes. What matters most is the effort to learn, grow, and change. Please help Nate get the fresh start he deserves, and thank you for being part of this journey.
With gratitude,
Daniel
