Empower Maggie Wickman at Camp Breastie

Hi, my name is Maggie Wickman. I’m 27 years old, BRCA1+ and a little over two years post op from my preventative bilateral double mastectomy. I'm fundraising to go to Camp Breastie!
Camp Breastie is located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania from June 5-8. It is an annual four-day summit where 600 people impacted by breast and gynecologic cancer gather for community, advocacy, and education. It's a weekend rooted in information sharing and community cultivation. It is the largest summit in the world for those impacted by breast and gynecologic cancer!
I attended Camp Breastie for the first time last summer, and it ultimately changed my life. I was able to attend panels with world famous researchers, meet one on one with doctors who are advocating for our health care coverage, and connect with women who have lived in the gynecologic cancer world alongside me.
This year, I’m planning to also apply to be a cabin leader which would mean I would be assigned 9 other women in my cabin to make sure everyone has everything organized, has the accommodations they need, decorate their rooms, provide guidance throughout the weekend, etc.
Registration for Camp Breastie costs $250, and provides an all access pass to festivities - all meals, snacks, beverages, lodging, interactive panels, workshops, meetups and camp activities. This does not include flights, which are an additional $500(ish). Being a cabin leader will cost extra but I will not be asking for donations for that, since that’s an additional cost I’m choosing to take on.
As many of you know, I have been heavily impacted by breast cancer. I found out I was BRCA1+ in 2021, and in 2022 my doctors discovered a lump in my left breast that ended up being a benign tumor. I got MRIs and biopsies every 2 months until I had my non-nipple sparing bilateral double mastectomy on November 30, 2022. I then had my second surgery on February 2, 2023. I ended up having a revision surgery on April 22, 2024.
I have used my social media platforms to educate others about BRCA1+ and what it's like to experience a double mastectomy at 25 years old. I have grown my social media following to 10k+ with over 10M likes/comments and been able to share my story with so many. It has provided me with many incredible advocacy opportunities and I'm excited to continue using my voice to educate and advocate for other young woman (just like me).
Please consider donating to get me to Camp Breastie!
