“I’ll Start From Here” – A Community Documentary

Fargo–Moorhead didn’t just inspire “I’ll Start From Here” — the community asked for it.

This documentary explores mental health, autism, belonging, and the lived experiences of marginalized and neurodiverse residents in our region. It examines the community impact following the removal of Fargo’s DEI department in 2024 and reflects on how policy decisions can affect connection, support systems, and everyday life.

Through personal stories, expert insight, and hopeful moments like the “Anything But Typical” event at the Plains Art Museum, the film centers real voices and constructive dialogue. The goal is to expand understanding and make educational access possible long after the final screening.

Now we are raising funds to support distribution, outreach, and long-term impact.

How Your Gift Moves the Film Forward

We are seeking support to cover specific, documented costs:

* $500 – Podcast production to share extended interviews and conversations
* $1,000 – Film festival submission fees to expand regional and national reach
* $1,500 – DVD and physical media production for schools and libraries
* $2,000 – Development of a dedicated educational website with screening and discussion resources

Examples of how gifts contribute:

* $25–$99 helps strengthen digital access and outreach tools
* $100–$249 supports post-production and educational materials
* $250–$499 helps offset physical media and accessibility costs
* $500+ meaningfully advances one full outreach category

Every dollar raised goes directly toward these distribution and education goals. No funds will be used for unrelated personal expenses.

How We Plan to Acknowledge Supporters

All donations are voluntary gifts to support the project. They are not purchases and do not constitute an exchange for goods or services.

As a gesture of appreciation — not obligation — we intend to acknowledge supporters in ways such as:

* Listing names (with permission) on the official film website
* Including supporter names in a community acknowledgment section of the film or digital credits
* Sharing general public thank-you messages at events or screenings
* Providing project updates to those who opt in

For major supporters, we may offer expanded acknowledgment (such as inclusion in a recognition section or public thank-you materials), always with donor consent.

These acknowledgments are expressions of gratitude and are not guaranteed benefits tied to donation amounts.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

* Transparent use of funds
* Clear updates on how donations are applied
* Compliance with GoFundMe guidelines
* Ensuring that “I’ll Start From Here” reaches classrooms, community spaces, and wider audiences

This film began because community members wanted honest conversation about belonging and mental health. With your help, it can continue to inform, educate, and encourage dialogue far beyond Fargo–Moorhead.

If you believe stories can strengthen communities, please consider giving today — and sharing this campaign with others who care.

Thank you for starting from here.
