On the night of October 31, 2025, landslide struck Machember Sub-location in Mukurtwo, Elgeyo-Marakwet County in Kenya, following a period of long intense rainfall. This landslide killed at least 26, and more than 25 people are still reported missing. Multiple were injured and are now hospitalized in various hospitals within the county.
On November 2nd, 2025 another landslide struck again, not far from initial site, at Kibendo Village, Emsoo Ward causing more deaths and leaving several others injured and displaced.
Following these two tragedies that struck at the same time, Inua Life Foundation stepped in to stand with the people of Elgeyo-Marakwet. It is heartbreaking to learn of the lives lost, people displaced, properties destroyed and the massive destruction.
Our team has been on the ground working tirelessly to reach the affected areas, and deliver much needed support despite difficulties accessing the site due to roads being cut off and bridges swept away. Despite these challenges, our team was able to reach one of the sites and delivered their initial package of relief.
From their assessment there is still need to provide for both the short-term and long-term. Inua Life Foundation is ready to walk that journey with the people of Marakwet.
We humbly calling upon friends, well-wishers, and partners to join us in supporting this cause. Your contribution will go directly towards:
- Supplying food and clean water
- Providing mattresses, blankets, and mosquito nets
- Supporting infants and mothers with essentials such as diapers and hygiene kits
- Assisting families in the recovery and rebuilding process
Every donation counts and your generosity will help restore hope and dignity to those affected by this disaster.
Let's stand together with the people of Marakwet East as they rebuild their lives.
Donate today and help us make a difference.
