Sarah and Kaleb welcomed their first son, Vander, on 7-25-25. Despite how exciting this is, things took a turn when a true knot in the umbilical cord caused oxygen deprivation and a small brain bleed during his birth. Now in the NICU, little Van fights every day for his quality of life, and for his parents to finally be able to hold him.

Amidst the emotional turmoil, financial worries are large. Medical expenses, deductibles, and travel will be costly. Kaleb has to juggle work, three daughters, a son in Iowa City NICU, and a wife who is still recovering after her emergency C-section, all while taking trips to the hospital, stretching their resources thin. Despite the challenges, Sarah and Kaleb have remained focused that every small sign of progress fuels their hope as they eagerly await the day they can finally hold their son and bring him home to his sisters.
