Donate to ease Isaac and Melinda's Grief Journey

Hi, my name is Cheryl. I am a neighbor and friend of Melinda and Isaac's. As you know, Isaac's dad Hugh died unexpectedly on July 2, 2024. The past two weeks have been a painful, shocking, numbing blur for them. They have found a few activities which provide some comfort. These activities do require some funds, and Melinda is short on cash right now, having scrimped and saved for her long-awaited trip to Africa. She returned home just a few days after departing in order to support Isaac. Because Hugh was not Melinda's partner, and because Isaac is not a minor, her travel insurance has denied her claim. Likewise, she's not receiving bereavement time from work.
I've organized this fundraiser in the hopes that we can provide some comfort and ease for them. Funds would go towards the following expenses:
- direct death-related expenses (funeral home, etc)
- grief counseling
- the most comforting activity for them is taking long drives, going for a hike, and then stopping for a meal. So funds for gas and simple restaurant meals.
- As Isaac transitions to living full time with Melinda, he would like to renovate his room to be more comforting and grown up. Funds would go towards paint, furniture, bed linens, etc.
- to help out if Melinda needs to take unpaid time away from work.
Knowing Melinda (or perhaps you know her as Mindy!), you know that this is not at all in her comfort zone to ask for help. She is a helpER. But we all need help sometimes. She would really, really like to support Isaac with his wish for a new, fresh, comforting, cozy space in which to heal and rebuild.
