As most of you already know,

My mother had a severe series of falls in her home after being sick with what she thought was the flu over this last weekend. It turns out that it was likely due to an undetected UTI that had spread to one of her kidneys. We don't know 100% of the story of what exactly happened because my mother lives alone with her dog and she isn't coherent enough to tell us what happened. We do know that she fell getting out of bed initially to get to the bathroom because she was feeling sick and likely broke her foot then and hit her head.

In an attempt to get up to find her phone or help, she continued to fall several times throughout her apartment, likely because she was already disoriented from the initial fall and the infection. This left her with a severe concussion and hematoma, broken bones in her nose and face, and bruising from head to toe. Her foot is also broken in 5 places and she dislocated her ankle.

She was sedated for some time in the hospital due to the severity of the concussion, her agitation and confusion, and lack of response to social cues. She is improving slowly over the days and is now responsive and can recognize me, her daughter. She is extremely drowsy and communication is limited. She has mostly been sleeping and is in extreme pain.

Her road to recovery is going to take some time due to the stress on her entire body. She will need surgery on her foot to repair the damage as well.

My mom drives for Uber and Lyft for work to maintain her monthly bills. Obviously, she won't be in working condition for some time and this will put a financial strain on her ability to maintain her living situation and other monthly bills. Her family will help where we can, of course, but this just was a crazy accident that no one could even fathom or be prepared for.

We are asking for donations to help pay her rent, car bills, and other living expenses to keep her comfortable enough to focus on healing and recovering from such a traumatic event.
