Penn undergraduates through Community School Student Partnerships (CSSP) are collecting non-perishable, non-expired items in response to the legal and political uncertainty surrounding Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, commonly known as "food stamps." Nearly one-third of Philadelphia’s population is dependent on SNAP benefits, and because the program is in limbo, many families could be left without the means to keep food on the table. This week, members of CSSP will be making a grocery run for canned items, with 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser supporting the effort. All items will be distributed to the Netter Center's university-assisted schools in West Philadelphia according to need.
*Note: We are preparing for delays in people receiving food stamp benefits.
