This year, for my birthday, I'm doing something a little different. Instead of gifts, I'm asking for donations to the Oregon Food Bank, an organization in Portland dedicated to eliminating hunger and its root causes.
Why This Matters to Me
I started volunteering for OFB during the pandemic in their food processing center, packing hundreds of pounds of dry pasta noodles into individual bags. It opened my eyes to how much work goes into getting food to families and how they supported our community. But also how dedicated the team of volunteers and employees are to the mission.
With food costs rising due to inflation and federal cuts to crucial programs like SNAP and WIC, the need for organizations like OFB has never been greater.
What Your Donation Does
Oregon Food Bank operates a network of over 1,400 food distribution sites across Oregon and Southwest Washington, providing free groceries and meals to anyone who needs them. Beyond emergency food assistance, they tackle hunger's root causes through job training, education programs, nutrition education, policy advocacy, and helping people access government benefits like SNAP and WIC.
Every dollar donated helps distribute $8 worth of food to families in need.
So Here's What I'm Asking
Would you consider making a donation? Helping families in our community would be the best birthday gift I could ask for.
Every donation makes a difference!
