Fifteen years ago, 'Friendsmas' began with a humble potluck and ten friends sharing holiday cheer, trying not to spill a questionable green bean casserole on my carpet. Fast forward to today, and that cozy gathering has quadrupled in size, transforming into a beloved, massive, chaotic event that kicks off our holiday season right! I think we’re dangerously close to violating local fire codes every December. We’ve grown from a small circle into a festive family.
Now, we’re looking ahead to a pretty cool milestone: the 20th Anniversary of Friendsmas in just five short years!
I don't know about you, but I think that landmark deserves something way more special than our usual setup. To properly honor two decades of friendship, terrible sweaters, and incredible food, we need this 20th year to be legendary.
I'm starting an early campaign to raise funds over the next five years. We can't pull off a truly epic bash on just potluck contributions! I want us to finally be able to:
- Rent a bigger venue: Ditch the living room squeeze for a space that fits our massive friend group. No more musical chairs every time someone needs to get a drink refill.
- Top-Tier Entertainment: Maybe a photo booth? A decent DJ/band?
- Gourmet Spread: Less stress, and less reliance on questionable pump shots.
- Add some pizzazz: Just a little extra sparkle to make it unforgettable.
Let's make sure the 20th anniversary is the holiday party that everyone talks about for years to come. Every contribution, big or small, gets us closer to a spectacular celebration worthy of our incredible group. We may even be able to afford the good champagne.
