On Sunday, October 13, at approximately 3:00am, one of our very own candy makers, Carol, was involved in a very serious car accident last week on her way home from her shift. (Carol and her family consented sharing this information). A speeding car rear ended carols car causing her to crash into a wall, then spinning onto oncoming traffic, where she was then struck by two more cars that did not see her in time to react. Unfortunately one of the other drivers fled the scene before emergency services arrived. Thankfully someone noticed Carol on the freeway and they were able to pull over and drag her body off of the freeway to safety. She was then immediately rushed into surgery in critical condition. She is stable now, however her injuries were traumatic and it will be a long road ahead for her and her family as she heals., mentally and physically. We brainstormed ways to help support Carol, her husband and her young children as she continues to improve in the hospital. Her husband has currently closed their shop (only source of income) to be by Carols side, Carol has lost her only vehicle and means of transportation, and not to mention having possibly no coverage for the emergency/hospital services.
