A Lifesaving and Life-Changing Initiative for Our Island

Imagine growing up on an island surrounded by water but never learning how to swim. Imagine living in a place where a child’s first real swimming experience is in the open ocean, with no safe place to practice, train, or gain the confidence they need. This is the reality for many families in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Right now a local hotel is donating their pool for the swimmers, but this is all we have and we want to create something that will be available for all the residents to use daily.

For years, our community has needed a public swimming pool—a place where children can learn to swim safely, where families can enjoy recreational activities, where athletes can train and compete, and where elderly individuals can have a safe, low-impact space to stay active and healthy. The Vieques Sports Complex was meant to include a pool, but the project was never completed. Now, we have an opportunity to bring this vision to life!

Why a Swimming Pool Matters

A community pool is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. This facility would bring countless benefits to the people of Vieques, including:
