Hi everyone, my name is Emely, and I’m sharing this GoFundMe for my dear friend Gabriela Pérez and her family. On Wednesday, September 30, around 7:20 a.m., Gabriela was leaving for work when her parents, Juan Carlos and Gloria, were stopped and detained by ICE while on their way to work in the New Orleans area. The highway was stopped during the operation, and several agents surrounded their vehicle like they were criminals. They were completely cooperative and did not resist. They tried to explain their situation and show the documents they had with them, but the agents refused to look at them and told them they “didn’t care.” They were taken from their vehicle and handcuffed. Juan Carlos and Gloria are hardworking parents who have spent years building a life and supporting their family. They have no criminal record and have worked hard to follow the rules and build their lives responsibly. Their parents were doing everything through the legal process and had followed the rules every step of the way. Now, Gabriela and her brother are trying to keep their household going while their parents are unable to work. We are raising these funds for their immigration bonds, which could be around $10,000 each ($20,000 total), as well as essential household expenses. If you can donate or simply share this fundraiser, you are helping bring Juan Carlos and Gloria one step closer to coming home. Please keep their family in your prayers.
