Donate to Bring Clean Water to Adi Bana

Dear potential donor, thank you for your interest in our cause. According to the World Bank, access to clean water and sanitation improves public health and enables more people—especially women—to participate in the workforce. For every $1 invested in water supply and sanitation in Africa, a $7 return is generated.

The team here at the Manetay Clean Water Project is kindly asking for a donation to support the development of a water well in a small village in Eritrea called Adi Bana. Adi Bana is home to 1200 people who need access to clean drinking water. Unfortunately, drought and water scarcity are growing increasingly severe by the year. Residents of the village have to walk through challenging terrain for 6 miles round trip just to collect drinking water. To make matters worse, the water is unsanitary and has led to a myriad of preventable illnesses in the community.

Thankfully, members of the US, Canadian, Australian and European diaspora from this village have come together to find a resolution. As a team, they were able to fund $45,000 for Phase 1 of this project which included breaking ground to identify and secure the closest clean water well to the village. However, this is still ~3 miles away from where the residents live.

Therefore, Phase 2 of this project will consist of adding a motorized pump to deliver water from the well into a pipeline that connects to a larger reservoir which has been placed at the peak of this mountainous village. From there, the pipeline will branch into 4 fountains at accessible locations throughout the community.

According to the official engineering estimates, we need $100,000 to cover labor costs. Donors from Phase 1 have once again contributed to Phase 2 for a current total of $26,000. They are determined to continue fundraising towards a goal of $50,000 among their extended diaspora networks. This leaves a remainder of $50,000 needed from compassionate members of the broader community like you.

Please consider donating to the Manetay Clean Water Project and know that your contribution is helping provide sustainable drinking water to create a healthy and productive community. Thank you for your time and consideration.
