Their Story

When life takes unexpected turns, some people step up in extraordinary ways. My sister Bethany is one of those rare souls.

Years ago, when our beloved sister struggled with addiction and faced incarceration, Bethany opened her home and heart to our nieces and nephew without hesitation. She provided stability during their most vulnerable years, sacrificing her own plans and financial security to create a safe haven.

Our sister courageously overcame addiction and and transformed her life!

While Bethany eventually helped reunite two of the children with their mother after recovery, by that point, Remmi had spent nearly her entire life with Bethany. Their bond was so deep that both agreed Remmi should continue to call Bethany's house "home."

At a time when Bethany could have been enjoying her empty nest after successfully raising her own children to adulthood, she chose to become a mom again. With the help of her loving ex-husband / co-parent, Branden, she's been raising Remmi ever since, providing the love, stability, and care every child deserves.

The New Chapter They're Beginning

After years of renting, Bethany has taken a courageous step—purchasing her first home on her own in Grass Valley, CA to create a permanent foundation for herself and Remmi. This modest 2-bedroom house on a half-acre lot has tremendous potential but needs significant work to become the safe, nurturing home they deserve.

You may have seen Bethany's recent Facebook post: "Calling on my family ...we just bought a house and I need some help getting it move in ready!! If anyone is interested in showing up for us, we would GREATLY appreciate it. I'm planning a work sprint at the house from 4/30-5/6."

Bethany is doing what she always does—rolling up her sleeves and tackling challenges head-on. She's organizing a family work party to handle the labor, but the reality is that many critical improvements require materials and specialized work that go beyond what a volunteer crew can provide.

After stretching herself financially for the down payment and closing costs, Bethany has depleted her savings. This fundraiser is a way for friends and family who can't physically be there to contribute to their new beginning.

While local friends and family are giving their time and muscle from April 30-May 6, this fundraiser allows those who live far away or can't physically help to contribute meaningfully to Bethany and Remmi's new home. The work party will tackle the labor, and your donations will provide the necessary materials and professional services to complete the transformation.

The Mother's Day Surprise!

Bethany has absolutely no idea we're doing this fundraiser. On Mother's Day weekend (May 11-12), we plan to reveal this campaign and your generous contributions as a way to honor her extraordinary heart and commitment to Remmi.
