Community playspace and café coming soon to Rhinebeck, NY!
AT PLAY is designed to be a permanent, brick and mortar gathering space for families and caregivers of young children - an enriching, safe and welcoming environment that will foster growth through play. We are responding to the community's profound and demonstrated need for more resources and support. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit we are striving to strengthen our community through play: making early childhood educational opportunities (including onsite Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapists, mental health support, parenting groups and events programming) available to everyone! Our hope is to open the doors to our beautiful, safe and carefully designed space in June 2025. With your help, we know we can! Every single contribution gets us closer to reaching our goal.
A registered not-for-profit with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, AT PLAY relies on the generosity, support and commitment of others who want to be part of bringing this vision to life.
Your domation will make a lasting impact on children, families, and the greater community.

THE NEED
The lack of available support for parents and caregivers across the country has become a nationwide epidemic. So much so that the Surgeon General issued an Advisory on the Mental Health and Well-Being of Parents, highlighting the urgent need to better support parents, caregivers, and families to help our communities thrive.
Nearly 70% of families with young children report a need for community resources that support early childhood development and family bonding. (Harvard Family Research)
AT PLAY seeks to be a solution for the stressors that the children, family members and caregivers in our community face, providing resources that support their ability to thrive.
Our primary goal is to strengthen and support our community in a space that delivers early childhood educational opportunities through PLAY. In addition to Daily Open Play and community programming, AT PLAY will have onsite Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapists available through group programming and by appointment. We will also host birthday parties, events and parenting groups. Parents and caregivers of babies and young children are in an exciting stage of life with consistently evolving joys and challenges; it's our mission to facilitate support and connection during these early years.
OUR STORY
When founder Chessa Kenney began exploring ways to address the problems parents face in raising kids, she knew she wanted to create a space for community and connection. She wanted to ensure that families had access to more joy and playfulness in their lives. Chessa’s background as a teacher of 4 through 8 year olds in New York City over 13 years told her that these elements were essential in equipping kids with the skills and experiences they need to thrive in the modern world.
Discussions with local parents and caregivers and extensive research, bolstered by a community survey, have made it indisputably clear that our area would benefit from a dedicated place for a village to come together in the name of play and supporting one another.
Your support will bring this vision to life and make a lasting impact on children, families, and the greater community.
We are more than happy to accept ACH/checks for donations of any amount. If you are considering making a donation greater than $10,000, thank you in advance for your interest and tremendous support!
