We need help. My name is Aaron Fields and this is my mom Connie Fields. Born and raised in Asheville North Carolina. I wanted to start this gofundme to help my mom and I through these difficult times.
My dad has been battling kidney cancer for over 7 years. These have been tumultuous years by his side through thick and thin. In the midst of Hurricane Helene on September 27th he had an episode right as the storm was passing through. At that point accessing medical assistance was necessary. With internet gone, power limited, and hundreds of people entering the ER it was near impossible to secure him a room in the hospital.
At this point the hospital was utter chaos. As time went on the cancer completely took over his liver. He was sedated and comfortable for the remainder of his visit. My dad passed away on September 30th around 4:43am at Mission Hospital. It brings us some peace to know he is no longer suffering.
Coming to terms with the loss of my dad in the face of an already tragic and immensely destructive storm has been a near impossible undertaking for myself and my mom. We are reaching out to our friends and loved ones for help during this very difficult time for our family. On top of grief we are also juggling severe flooding in her basement and property damage. Additionally my place of work, Marquee Asheville, was completely destroyed in the storm. With that I lost not only my source of revenue but also my personal artwork.
We are asking our friends, family, and community to extend whatever help they can for us during this difficult time. Between property damage, medical bills, funeral bills, and rent we have found ourselves in a powerless and overwhelmingly difficult position. We would deeply appreciate any donations that can be made to us during this time. If you have the means to aid us in moving forward it would make a massive difference in our lives. And to everyone else struggling through this, we see you. Please stay safe.
Please share!
Thank you,
Aaron
