The drag racing family is a tight one and we lost one of our charter members recently.

When I think about Doug I think about those crazy conversations that ended with a laugh or some other comment that was so typical of him and you left walking away with a smile on your face. He was an incredible fabricator and fierce racing competitor and we all know how thrilled he was to get the chance to step on the loud pedal and fulfill the dream of driving his own nitro funny car.

 

For all of the memories we have of Doug’s passion at the track, he was equally as passionate about his friends, family and of course his grandchildren. That hard outer shell disappeared and the true teddy bear he was would show up when you’d see him with his grandbabies.

The road ahead for Amanda and Doug’s grandchildren will be full of challenges and we ask all of Doug’s racing family and friends to consider a donation to them as this is the greatest gift we can give to help take care of Doug’s family the way he would have wanted to himself.

 

Nobody is ever prepared for a tragedy like this and this is undoubtedly the best thing we can do to help ease some of the financial burden for Doug’s loved ones on the road of life.
