The Plumley's Desperately Need Your Help
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Carol Plumley’s sister, Jan Rogers. I’m asking for donations to support the Plumley family. The family has exhausted ALL their savings now struggles daily to make ends meet. Here’s the situation:
We’ve all heard of it happening to one person. Something out of the blue, some big unexpected terrible thing just falls out of the sky and bam! It such an extent that it totally upends that person’s world! We see this in life. Well, it’s happened to our beloved Plumley family, again.
In August Carol had hand surgery to repair her right hand that was injured in the 2021 vehicular incident that killed their beloved son and brother, and our nephew and friend, Trevor Plumley. After the hand surgery, a horrific infection erupted inside the surgery site on her right hand. She was hospitalized off and on for weeks at a time while the doctors fought the infection. The hospital began treating her with a broad-spectrum antibiotic but she became even more sick. The wound on her hand, resistant to the treatments, grew larger & worse by the day. Carol became weaker with fevers and pain as she has yo-yo’d back & forth to the ER in ShowLow, Az.
In November, when the only solution afforded the family was amputation, Robert insisted that she be moved to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix where additional testing and surgeries ensued. There, the incredible teams of doctors isolated the specific causes of the now life threatening and necrotizing infection and were able to get her on the correct medicines.
However, Carol has completely lost the use of her right thumb because the infection tore through the tendons, nerves and muscles in her thumb, hand and wrist. Once the new at-home IV medications are done (in a few more months) and once she is deemed free of infection, she will the require a series of grafting surgeries to relocate viable tendons from other fingers on her left hand to rebuild her right thumb. Her left hand will not function fully after this but it’s better than not having a working thumb on the right hand. Currently, as of December 19, 2023, she is back in the hospital. She has become so severely weakened by this battle that she’s now practically bedridden. We continue to pray to our Lord Jesus Christ for her swift recovery.
While this situation is awful enough for Carol, there is more. You may remember that in 2021, Robert suffered heart failure after the loss of his youngest son and his heart now permanently functions at less than 50% capacity. This means that his organs and muscles can just barely get enough oxygen to keep him alive. He now has a pacemaker-defibrillator that keeps him going but his ability to work is very limited. On Nov 11, 2023, while he was standing on 2 layers of hay bales on his flatbed trailer tossing bales down to his son, his weakened heart went into a lethal rhythm. We are thankful to the Lord that his internal defibrillator was able to shock his heart back to life as he fell forward. Ethan (Hoss) was able to catch him as he witnessed his father’s collapse.
Bad things seem to happen in threes, and there is still more. The third is that Ethan (Hoss), has been suffering terribly since June from a very debilitating intestinal issue. It is suspected to be Crohn's disease, which is what Trevor suffered too (and Robert still does). He has been unable to contribute an income since that time due to severity of his condition and yet strives every day to help his parents without hesitation or thought of his health.
With all three Plumley's unable to work, the family savings have evaporated! Their ability to pay bills, much less have a sustainable income is non-existent, they are not struggling with daily things like fuel and food. They are in dire need of your help to be able to survive the winter and the upcoming new year, 2024.
So, I ask you, one and all to please donate what you can to help lift the burden that this family now carries so tragically and so soon after the terrible loss of their son/brother, Trevor. Please contribute what you can to help the Plumley’s make it through this horrific, quite out of the blue disaster. It’s shocking when these proverbial “shoes” just drop out of the sky onto our heads disrupting our lives at any time. We simply must all pull together to help each other. Thank you for your kindness and consideration!
