Help My Mom Divorce My Shitty Dad

Hello, and thank you for stopping by. My name is Augusta, and I am reaching out on behalf of my mom, a woman who has given her entire life to her children but has been left with almost nothing for herself.

My mom grew up in Skuodas, a small town in Lithuania. Raised by a single mother who worked as a nurse, she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. But due to financial struggles and limited opportunities, she had to give up that dream and study education instead. At 18, like many young women of that time, she became a mother herself. She finished her degree, raised her baby, and worked tirelessly—yet the next three decades of her life were overshadowed by my father, a man who caused her endless hardship.

Our childhood was marked by poverty and instability. We often faced the fear of losing our home, winters spent in the cold, and not enough food on the table. My father worked abroad, sending home just enough to keep us going, but he also left behind debts, hidden responsibilities, and other unexpected affairs. Despite everything, my mom carried the weight of it all—working, feeding us, keeping us safe, and giving us the love he never could.

Years ago, she tried to divorce him. But with little income, little legal support, and the cultural mindset of that time, she was told it was “better for the children” to stay. Over time, the situation only got worse. My father manipulated ownership of the house and hid debts in her name. To this day, her bank cards are blocked, and she owns nothing despite decades of sacrifice.

Now almost fifty, my mom works two exhausting jobs: at a school kitchen during the day and as a dishwasher in the evenings. She never got the chance to learn English, which limits her opportunities even further. She has had only two vacations in her life. She has never had the luxury of something as simple as a massage. She raised three children on her own strength, love, and kindness—and yet she is left with nothing.

Recently, she has started drinking heavily, and I am terrified of losing what is left of her life. What she needs most is a chance to finally free herself.

That’s why I am asking for your help. My biggest wish for her birthday is to raise enough money to hire a lawyer and finally complete the divorce she has needed for so long. The legal process is complicated and expensive because of the debts and manipulations my father created. My siblings and I are still young and cannot afford these costs on our own.

Any contribution—no matter how small—will go directly toward giving my mom the fresh start she deserves. Every cent will bring her closer to freedom and dignity after decades of hardship.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story, for caring, and for helping my mom reclaim her life.
