For the past 8 years, in his hometown of Austin TX, John Pelicano has carried on his father's tradition of making and sharing homemade pizza with whomever is in need of not only a warm meal, but some caring company. Having access to a very large community pizza oven in Austin, John was able to make 40 pizzas monthly to help feed those in need.

John has since moved to Greenville SC to work with his family's business, Whetstone Studio. 'Pizza with a Purpose' is now an official community outreach event supported by Whetstone Studio and designed to work in tandem with other organizations who are doing such great work in the community.

Our hope is to involve other area organizations and businesses in future events. But for now, we will hold our first event Dec. 6, at the Dream Center's Opportunity Village in Easley SC, with only one small oven. Fingers crossed that we will be able to feed all that show up with that one oven.

In order to continue our mission we know we will need additional portable ovens-- good, sturdy ovens that will crank out the amount of pizza we will need to feed our neighbors, who maybe haven't had a hot meal or friendly conversation in a while. Our entire team of Whetstone Studio employees will be helping at each of these events.
