Meet Mark Alan Michael Rogers. Baby Mark will turn one year old on January 12, 2025. This little man has been through more in his short life than most of us will ever experience.

Baby Mark was diagnosed with infantile spasms in June of 2024. His mother Taylor was able to capture the spasms on video which allowed the doctors to react quickly. Mark was started on a high dose of steroids that stopped the spasms but caused horrible side effects. Shortly after, an MRI showed he had unfortunately suffered a stroke in uterine when mom was around six months pregnant.

Following this finding, Mark was weaned off the steroids to start anti-seizure medication. His EEGs began to come back "normal", and he was spasm free. Sadly, six weeks later the spasms returned, and he was admitted into the hospital again. He started a dangerous drug for spasms, but the medication has a high possibility of leaving a devastating impact on his vision. Due to this impact, the doctors added another round of steroids.

Parents, Kyle and Taylor, asked the Neurologist to present his case to the Neurosurgeon Team. A few short days later the Neurosurgeon agreed that Mark was a top candidate for a rare surgery, a "right hemispherectomy". The surgery will disconnect the entire right side of his brain, preventing future seizures to allow the healthy side of his brain to continue developing, with hopes that he will only have a minimal number of physical limitations. Following surgery and a lengthy weaning process and possible years of therapy. The best outcome would be that Mark will become spasm and seizure free and off all medications.

The complicated surgery, lasting up to 10 hours, will be performed by Dr. Michael Cools of Children's Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, on January 21, 2025. Baby Mark is looking at a six-week hospital stay and once released from the ICU, he will receive physical therapy four hours a day, six days a week.

Please join us in supporting Kyle, Taylor, Mark, and family. Your support, continued prayers, and generous contributions will make a world of difference as they focus on their child and family’s health and well-being.
