As most of you know, Jayme and I are identical twins. For the past year, she has been treated for a heart condition that is called prolonged QT syndrome. Prolonged QT syndrome puts you at risk for sudden cardiac death. Jayme was recently in the ICU for prolonged QT intervals and she begged her doctors to implant a defibrillator. A defibrillator does not prevent arrhythmias, but it would shock her heart if she were to go into one. Her doctors did not think she qualified for one, so they managed her with heart medication and was told to have close follow-up. Unfortunately, February 26, Jayme was driving, talking to our dad on the phone. She went into an arrhythmia and suffered sudden cardiac death. This caused a motor vehicle accident. Her down time was about 30 minutes. When fire and EMS arrived, they broke her car window and initiated aggressive CPR. She was resuscitated and transferred to Presby as a level 1 trauma. At that time, they gave her a 10 percent chance to live. She suffered no injuries from the accident, just some broken ribs from the CPR, but due to her prolonged down time, she was placed on life support and has suffered horrendous brain injury. She is currently unresponsive. Her medical team seems to have hope and has explained to us that she is going to need extensive rehab. She will not be working anytime soon. I have had hundreds of people message and call me asking what they can do for help. Besides pray, I was hoping to start a donation in Jayme's honor to help pay for some medical expenses and also to help support her two boys; ages 16 and 12. I know Jayme would appreciate anything. I am convinced the magic of prayer is why she is alive right now. Statistically speaking, she shouldn't be here. If Jayme can pull through this, she will get her defibrillator. I would like to thank anyone who would like to donate in advance and please, please, please keep praying for Jayme. I love you, sissy. Keep fighting.
