I am Ivy Valdez Chavez-Cadiz, a nurse working here in the United States. My town is submerged by water due to Typhoon Kristine. Since I am away from home, it’s very depressing to see my “kababayan’s” seeking help and rescue but no help came and their reason is “there’s no available pump boat”.
Since I am observing and reading the feeds from my Facebook account, a lot weren’t rescued yet, because of no paraphernalia to rescue and a pump boat to use. My neighbor (who used to be my playmate) was rescued after 24 hours.
Way back in 2020 (COVID19), I also started a fundraising together with my husband’s cousin (Ian) and neighbor (Yeta), to give relief goods to some of our kababayans. I was not working back then and continuously receiving my salary as per the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s rule. To pay back to my hometown, especially to the people of Roadside (my street address), I donated my 2 months food allowance as starting money to raise a budget for the food feeding project. As a result, we helped and distributed food for 2 days instead of a planned 1 day feeding program because we were still receiving a lot of donations. A lot of my neighbors who are working abroad helped. As much as I wanted to name them all, they are too many to mention.
As of now, a lot of my friends are sending me messages and asking what help they can give to my family, that’s why this project came up to my mind. I am asking to those people who have a good heart if you could donate for the “Pump Boat Project for the People of Roadside-Abaca, Sto. Domingo” and we can also lend it to our neighboring barangay’s if needed.
PS: I will add the cash on hand from our 2020 food relief project to this fund which is P15,000.
PS: 1 pump boat costs more or less $1,000 so I am only aiming 1 for now ‘coz I know how hard it is to earn.
Thank You all in advance and rest assured that I will post the receipt and I am planning to give it to the assigned Barangay Councilor of Roadside. May God Bless Us All!
