Meet Fernando. This little glob of buff cuteness was left by our door needing help and quite sick. He was found to be in acute renal failure, which is rare for a baby like him, so we think he may have eaten a toxic plant or ingested another toxin of some kind. After weeks of constant care, hope, prayers, and love, his bloodwork has shown improvement! He began to eat on his own, and he played like a maniac. He enjoys pouncing on any unsuspecting center volunteers that are walking by and chases his foster mom, our vet tech, everywhere.

But, the little guy is not in the clear yet and requires a lot of daily care and diagnostics like bloodwork and ultrasound to provide him with the best treatment possible. He even has a holistic vet on his team! Despite his initial improvement, his latest labs showed no further increase in kidney function. But we are not giving up and will continue to give this little nugget the best care possible and all the love he deserves. He has affectionately been given the nickname "Dennis the Menance" by staff, so he certainly isn't giving up!
