Donate for Christene & Jim's Cancer Cause

Donation protected
Christene & Jim Sherwood have been part of the CompHealth & CHLT PSY family for years. Christene who is a kind and loving friend to anyone who needs it on the team has been a large reason our team stays engaged and positive. We love having her on our PSY family! She is not only a loving mom and wife but she is a "mom" on our team and is a big part of our heart on PSY.

Recently her and her husband Jim received some devastating news regarding his cancer diagnosis had returned. Jim went into the ER due to some pain and unfortunately found cancer in his brain. One of the spots they are concerned about is on the brain stem and after the MRI they will determine if a shunt is needed to drain the spinal fluid away from the brain. There are a lot more test and procedures to be done, depending on some of these tests they should find out if it is Stage 3 or Stage 4 cancer.

Knowing that financial hardships are likely we are hoping to collect donations to put towards hospital bills.

UPDATE 7/31/2024:
Jim is very exhausted, just taking a shower wears him down. They said after the 2 weeks of radiation that it would take 2-4 weeks to get his energy back we are just a little over a week into that recovery and each day gets a tiny bit better. His poor head peeled like a bad sunburn. and he is still not allowed to drive.....we have another 6 weeks before they will allow that. We go to the Pulmonologist tomorrow and hopefully will get the results of the lung biopsy they did last week....then see the medical oncologist on Aug 12th to determine the chemo treatment plan.

Update 8/27/2024:
The update that we got today from Medical Oncologist. Confirmed that they have diagnosed Jim with Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma - Metastasized Brain and Lung. Unfortunately there is no cure. Jim will never be cancer free. We have to get it in control and then he will treat it as a chronic illness. Kidney cancer is responding better to Immunotherapy over Chemo, so in about 4 weeks Jim will start Immunotherapy and will have a boost treatment for 3 months and then will be having treatment once a month for the rest of his life. This goes through IV and so sometime in the next 3 weeks he will have port put in that they can just hook up the IV to. The hard number to swallow is that right now the survival rate of 2+ years past start of treatment is at about 20%.
