Hello, we are the Duran family. Our son Dominick was born on June 14, 2023. He was born nine weeks premature and with a congenital heart disease(DORV). His first open heart surgery was successfully performed on August 23. After spending his life since birth bouncing between three hospitals, he was finally discharged on labor day weekend. We were ecstatic to bring him home after an exhausting journey, but unfortunately after only four days he unexpectedly stopped breathing and became unresponsive. Thankfully we were trained to perform CPR before he was discharged and we were able to resuscitate him. After he was transported to the ER, it was decided by the medical staff that he return to stay at the hospital. After several scans, tests and labs it was determined that he also has tracheomalacia which restricts his ability to breathe. He will now most likely require a surgery to repair his trachea before he is cleared to return home and before his next heart surgery. We are blessed at this moment for the exceptional care he is receiving at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to balance time at our home in Fontana with our nine and three year old sons, Wyatt and Augustus, school, work and the hospital. I believe with certainty that our family will make it through these most stressful times in our lives. When that time comes we will finally have a proper service for our daughter Penelope, Dominick's twin sister, who unfortunately did not make it into this world. With everything going on, we haven't quite processed or mourned her passing. As sole provider of our family I am humbly asking for financial support so I can focus my attention on the emotional and spiritual needs of our family in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.
