Hey guys, 

I'm going to do 1,000 chest to floor
burpees over the next 5 days.  That's 200 per day where I will try and beat my time each day.  I am doing this challenge in aid of a beautiful little boy named Dan.  I hate burpees so this will be a mental and physical challenge for me but nothing compared to the challenges Dan and his family are facing.

  I'm sure most of you are now aware of Dan Donoghers story. This little boy was diagnosed with a with a rare genetic neuromuscular disease called SMAType 1.  The life expectancy of an SMA type 1 child is 18-24 months.  Dan has just turned one which means his life is running against the clock.   At this point he has lost his ability to lift his legs, maintain head control and lie on his belly. As Dan has the most severe type of SMA, this damanges the muscles used for swallowing, speaking and breathing along with requiring ventilatory support.  Dans muscles are too weak for a strong cough so even common cold could end Dan's life.
 
Dan currently meets the requirments for a drug available in America that will give this little boy a chance at the life he deserves but it costs over 2.1 million.  As Covid 19 hit, all fundraisers had to be cancelled which has slowed down their chance on raising the money.

I don't know Dan's family very well but in a time when life is so uncertain and difficult for everyone, we need to unite, give hope and show kindness  and do whatever we can to save this little boys life.

He deserves a fighting chance. Any donation would be greatly appreciated or if anyone wants to jump on board this burpee challenge please do.
