Hey, my name is Melissa and I am about to race in one of the world's toughest ultras, for my first Ultra race ever. If this is crazy enough I also want to try to raise 100000 NOK which will be split between Mental Helse Norge and Protect Our Winters Scandanavia, to give a little back to the planet and its extraordinary people :)
The Lapland Arctic Ultra is a 185km race in below freezing conditions through Lapland. I will be racing on skis with all of my survival gear for the whole race which will last a few days. The conditions have been known to be down to -35C, making it one of the harshest races in the world.
Please help support my challenge by helping me raise money for two charities that mean a lot to me.
Mental Helse Norge is an organisation that not only runs community mental health programs but also supports other organisations focused on mental health, having a wide reach across Norway. Part of the reason that I entered this race was to help me overcome post concussion symptons and heal my own mental health and I hope that together we can help others do the same.
I am passionate about the environment and work as a marine biologist and a green filmmaker. After 1000s of human powered hours training for this event I would like your support in also giving to Protect Our Winters a charity that works with Climate change advocacy, in Norway and globally.
Every moment that I spend in nature is invaluable to me, and I hope that the money we raise will protect our communities, nature and our fragile habitats where I live in the Arctic.
100% of the money raised will be split between the two charities, Mental Helse Norge and Protect Our Winters Scandanavia.
