Dear Liveryman,

During my year as Master, many members told me how valuable it would be to have a secure and searchable membership directory that would allow Distillers to connect more easily with one another. Not only professionally through shared skills and experience, but also socially through common interests, hobbies and friendships.

The current Master and Wardens are supportive of creating such a directory for consenting members, and we believe it could make a real difference to the strength and fellowship of our Company for years to come.

To help raise funds towards the project, on 2nd June I shall set off alone on a 725-mile cycle ride from Roscoff in Northern France to Santander in Spain before taking the ferry home — proudly wearing the Distillers vélo top along the way.

I should confess that I am far from an experienced cyclist and shall be riding a bicycle I bought when I was sixteen years old. I am personally covering all the costs of the ride, so every contribution received will go entirely towards the membership directory project. I will also personally contribute the first £450.

If you would like to support the initiative, I would be enormously grateful for any contribution, however modest. My hope is that this initiative will help strengthen the bonds between Distillers old and new and further enrich the fellowship of our wonderful Livery.

Thank you, as ever, for your generosity and support.

Warmest wishes,

Nick Carr

Immediate Past Master
