Disabled Vietnam Veteran Truck Fund

Hello friends, family, and anyone willing to help! My name is Christine, and my incredible father served our country in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Unfortunately, although my dad never complained or talked about his time there, there are many visible signs of emotional and physical damage resulting from agent orange poisoning. My dad is one of the strongest men I've ever known and is my hero. On May 16, 2022, my dad went to get in his car and realized it had been stolen. He bought the Chevy Silverado in 2002 and it was his BABY! He took such good care of the truck, servicing it above and beyond what average people do. Although the truck had 221,000 miles on it, it had years to go. On the back window of the truck was a sticker that read, "Vietnam Veteran." The license plates were disabled plates another was a wheelchair lift that the VA installed for him to help with his mobility. And yet, even with all of this, the thief still stole my dad's truck and left him with nothing! My boyfriend immediately took over with the insurance company to help assist my dad in getting his claim handled. The insurance company, which I shall not name, was rude, unfair, and tried to give my dad the least amount possible for his truck; an amount that could not even get him a simple used car. I do not want anyone to feel sorry for my dad, but I want people to understand that my dad has severe issues stemming from agent orange and needs to drive a truck that sits higher up so he can slide in and out of it. The truck was found in Thermal, California and was damaged beyond repair. My boyfriend even went so far as going to the salvage yard to see if the truck could be fixed so my dad could purchase the vehicle for $1,100, put the lift on it, and still have $2,300 to possibly fix the dents. After inspecting the truck, it was evident that it was beyond repair.  The insurance company was so fast to settle that it felt as if my dad were a number, not a human being. My dad loved to be able to drive to do his errands and had a bit of freedom to live his retirement years and was always willing to help people with various chores. My dad took his veteran friends to the VA and assisted them in getting their benefits that they may not otherwise have received. Now, my dad sits at home waiting on an insurance company that doesn't seem to care. They may only give him $7,100 for his truck and wheelchair lift. The lift alone was $3,700, which would leave my dad with $3,400 to purchase a truck. As you all know, in California, it is difficult to purchase any car for this amount, even a beater.
My dad does not know we are doing this for him. He is not on social media and doesn't really go anywhere anymore. I am asking any bit of help from all of you so we can get my dad back on the road again and live his best life in his retirement years. The goal is to purchase the truck for my dad, pick him up and take him for a ride, then hand him the keys over. We will provide a video of this so everyone can see how they participated in making a disabled Veterans dream come true. My dad would never ask for help from anyone because he is such a proud man, but I felt it necessary to reach out to our community for help. Thank you all!
