Disabled Veteran soon to be homeless with kids

Hello, my name is Demetrius Orozco and thank you in advance for reading this. I want to to introduce a childhood friend of mine that I have known pretty much my whole life. His name is William Paulo (aka billy). We lost contact before and we just reconnected this last year and his story truly breaks my heart. It really started from childhood with abuse, but I remember watching his mother fight breast cancer and we thought she had it beat, just to come back and take her life in 1997. Billy’s dad wasn’t ever around and after his mother passed away we lost contact. We just recently reconnected a few years ago and his life has slowly gotten worse.

He is 40 yo navy veteran, single father of two boys with shared custody.

He has diabetes, and a-fib, just lost his car, and Is having minor heart surgery this comming month. It's an operation called an ablation. It's meant to stop his heart from sending the wild electrical signals that make his heart palpitate and race.

He is an amazing dad, and a hard worker, Worked many tough jobs including working for the California conservation Corp, logging, construction, concrete work, farming work, painting,

His military career was cut short due to breaking both his knees in a vehicle accident.

He has surrendered and attempting to file for disability through the VA, but these things take time.

He is in a place where he can no longer afford to take care of his family due to the injuries he’s sustained over the years. One of the worst being hit by a utility van while on his bike on the way to work in antelope four years ago. (He was actually fired from that job less than 36 hours later) that was 'armor storage' In antelope. His work locker was cleared out and the stuff was taken or thrown away and was threatened by the owner physically, even though he had a brace and suffered a spinal injury. He has been trying to work security ever since. His back will never get better, his knees will never get better, his heart might get better, and my diabetes might improve but that is not certain. Meantime, he is currently in the Eviction process and is about to go under this surgery.

Billy is not one to ask for handouts or anything free as he has worked his whole life and served our great country. This is why I’m creating this Go-fund me. He really needs help getting caught up and not getting evicted and getting a car. He really just needs a break in life and I hope whoever reads this, feels compassion and empathy to a man that served and just wants to be able to take care of his kids without being on the street.
